Friday 8th April 2022 we will be welcoming Paul Iwan to Prohibition! Paul will be performing 2 special sets to celebrate the release of his new album PRESENT, released on Klee Music the same day.
The night will feature both acoustic and “plugged in” sets by Paul, showcasing songs old and new. A night not to be missed.
For those who don’t know Paul:
Mixing elements of Electro with alternative rock and emotive songwriting, Paul Iwan (pronounced Yoo-un) is one of the most intriguing talents in Liverpool’s fertile and eclectic scene.
Paul explores identity and otherness in his music, informed by his disability and own journey through PTSD and addiction.
Described as “Electro with an injection of angst” by John Robb’s louderthanwar.com, they proclaimed Paul’s self-released and self-produced 2019 album, RESISTER “a classic”.
Shortly after this, Paul released his version of The Teardrop Explodes “REWARD” after acquiring his hero’s guitar; Julian Cope’s legendary green Framus.
Live, Paul performs solo, using samples, loops and technology to enhance his soaring vocals and driving guitars.
Paul’s talent for great songwriting has not only saw him win the 24hr Songwriting challenge at Liverpool’s Threshold Festival 2019 but catch the eye of The Kinks legendary songsmith and front man, Ray Davies, who describes Paul’s writing as “Impressive, inspired and bold” with “an amazing voice”.
Other triumphs so far include airplay on BBC Radio 6, small festival appearances in the UK and at the IPO Festival, New York.
2022 looks exciting for Paul, after recently signing to independent label Klee Music. His new album PRESENT is released April 8th 2022, release on limited edition RED vinyl and cd, followed by his live acoustic Edenhurst Session EP released in September.

Tickets are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
No under 18s allowed. Doors open at 18:30 and the show starts at 19:30.
We politely ask all guests to arrive before the start time to ensure performances are not disturbed.

Ticket sales end at 12pm on the day of the event – No tickets will be available on the door unless specified by Prohibition Recording Studios.
TICKETS AND VALID I.D. (DRIVING LICENSE OR PASSPORT) ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL GUESTS ON ENTRY.

Note: There is limited seating at the venue – to avoid disappointment, please arrive for the event start time, which coincides with the doors opening. There are steps on entry to the building, so we are very sorry, but unfortunately due to restrictions of the building management we cannot offer a ramp for wheelchair users at this time. There may be a small card processing fee, unfortunately Prohibition Recording Studios cannot control this. We absorb all other fees where possible.
