The Frank Burkitt band – Live at Prohibition Recording Studios.
Sunday 13th June 2021 is about to get very special, with a relaxed and chilled out evening of ear grabbing harmonies and a beautiful mix of genres that The Frank Burkitt Band eloquently blend to create their original and mesmerising sound!
“I was awestruck by the command of blues, jazz, Americana, folk and swing… breadth, depth and talent.”
Rock Society Magazine
“The band’s vocal harmonies are tight, spot on and a delight. Soulful music that confounds to the end.” ****
Marc Higgins, Northern Sky Magazine
The Frank Burkitt Band are delighted to be performing in Liverpool for the first time at the amazing Prohibition Recording Studios. All the way from New Zealand, via Scotland, England and Greece, International jet setters The Frank Burkitt Band are delighted to be embarking on their second UK Tour in June and July 2020. With one member from each of the aforementioned countries, rehearsing has been a challenge, but one they have conquered with gusto!
Following on from an incredible 2019, where as well as touring through NZ, Australia and the UK, they were announced as winners of the Vodafone NZ Music Award for Best Folk Artist. 2020 will see the band tour through Manchester, London, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Sheffield and a range of places in between.
A set with the band can be described as American roots infused with folk, blues, country and a sprinkling of swing. Profound song-writing arranged with precision and creativity. A true genre spanning performance awaits. Add to that Frank’s rambling (yet entertaining) anecdotes and on-stage bravado and you are in for a special night that will both move and entertain.
They will be joined on their travels by Athens resident Becka Wolfe who will be adding sumptuous fiddle and vocal harmony to the band’s songs as well as singing her own songs in Arabic, French and English.
“Music that nods towards the likes of Pokey Lafarge or, in lighter moments, a country-tinged Pentangle. An album of genuinely good songs delivered by a fine sounding bunch of musicians.” 8/10.
Rick Bayles, Americana UK
