The Girl Who Could Fly (Show 2) – Live at Prohibition

The Girl Who Could Fly: a man wakes up in a miserable Manchester hospital and tries to piece together why he is wearing a stranger’s Stoke City tracksuit suit as pyjamas – and why he feels so ghastly and ill.

The Girl Who Could Fly is a poetry/monologue/tour de force, and examines the effects of class, gender, education and personal betrayal via prose, poetry and theatrical performance. It also charts the course of a human life – from the depths of despair to the borders of redemption.

Stephen Porter’s Saint Vespaluus character emerged from the hugely popular football fanzine When Skies Are Grey, and the dark comedy of The Girl Who Could Fly is the perfect vehicle for his brilliant flights of imagination.

Liverpool artist Daisy Summerfield plays the mysterious The Singer – a ghostly but reassuring figure, drifting in and out of the story with some beautiful songs.

The Girl Who Could Fly is a thought-provoking, provocative and often very funny examination of a singular modern life.

This is a unique gig experience that puts you at the heart of the artist’s performance.

Due to this we have a minimal talking/phone use policy during performances.

Any unnecessary noise during performances will result in you being asked to leave the event.

Doors open at 19:00 and the show starts shortly after.

A large proportion of the revenue raised from ticket sales is returned to the artists as payment for their talent and musicianship.

Prohibition Recording Studios prides itself in having musical integrity on behalf of ourselves and the artists.

Tickets are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis and are non-refundable for any reason.

We politely ask all guests to arrive within 30 minuites of the door opening time to ensure performances are not disturbed. Once performances start, our doors will be closed.
