About The Events

About the gig

In celebration of the 60th birthday of Roddy Frame, acclaimed singer-songwriter and frontman of Glaswegian new-wave band Aztec Camera, local musician and lifelong fan Paul Hagan will be performing an evening of songs spanning Roddy’s 40 year career.

With selections from all 10 of Roddy’s albums, from Aztec Camera’s classic debut “High Land Hard Rain” to his most recent release “Seven Dials”, expect to hear hit singles including Somewhere in My Heart, Oblivious, Walk out to Winter, and Good Morning Britain, alongside deeper cuts and fan favorites such as Small World, Reason for Living, Stray, 40 Days of Rain and more – all performed in the acoustic style that Roddy has adopted since becoming a solo artist.

This is a one off event, giving a rare chance to hear Roddy’s music recreated live by a self-confessed superfan. All proceeds from the gig will go to Claire House Children’s Hospice, a Merseyside charity helping seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences, and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.

About Paul Hagan

From Liverpool, Paul has performed around the UK for over 20 years, including as a member of local heroes Amsterdam, contributing to the albums The Journey, 1-2-3-4, and Home. During his time with the band he played live to the nation multiple times on BBC Radio 2, recorded a collaboration with Elvis Costello for the Liverpool No1 Project, and took to the stage at iconic venues including Abbey Road Studios, the Glastonbury festival, and Liverpool’s own M&S Arena.

He regularly works with Scottish musician Neil “Mackie” Macintosh, performing live with his power-pop band Ariel, contributing bass guitar to solo LP Needless Road, and the pair are currently collaborating on a 90s-inspired album with legendary engineer/producer Nick Brine (Oasis, Stone Roses, Ash, Super Furry Animals, Teenage Fanclub).

Paul is also a member of Liverpool band The Last Gambdado’s whose debut album “The Way We See” is available now on Spotify, with the recently-recorded follow up “Start Out Where You Stand” due for release in summer 2024.
