About The Events

On Saturday 12th October 2019 Two Black Sheep will be playing The Prohibition Sessions!

We can’t wait for this event, Two Black Sheep have crafted their own unique and fantastic trademark sound which has been captured in their two albums that we’re sure you will love just as much as we do!

For those that don’t know Two Black Sheep:

Two Black Sheep - Performing Live

Two Black Sheep are an acoustic based duo hailing from the banks of the Birkenhead side of the River Mersey. They released their debut album “Coffee & Gin” in October 2016 and over the following two years Amy Chalmers (Violin/Vocals/Piano) and Ian Davies (Guitars/Vocals) worked across the North West of England and beyond to develop their increasingly popular acoustic duo live sets and less frequent appearances featuring their string quartet.

The duo have built a good reputation and loyal following in the region culminating in main stage performances at Folk on the Dock 2018, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Music Room and a quickly sold out album launch featuring their full band at Thornton Hough Village Club in January 2019.

The second Two Black Sheep album, “The Earth Below”, has been well received by local radio stations and has picked up national airplay on BBC 6 music. The album heavily features the string arrangements of Amy, crafted to enhance the acoustic basis of the majority of the songs. This has become the Two Black Sheep trademark sound and is attracting larger audiences to gigs from outside the region.

‘The Earth Below.  A genuine moment in time to which feel grateful for.’ – Liverpool Sound & Vision Feb 2019

‘Like all acoustic performers, there is a form of poetry circling the music as it is performed, and for Two Black Sheep that often-delicate prose is…, honest, unashamed, firm and able to pull in different directions’ – Ian D Hall – It Takes Two, Merseyside’s best vocal duos Dec 2018

‘…when these two musicians share a bit of themselves with each other and us, they get to the heart of the matter.’ – Liverpool etc.

Supporting Two Black Sheep will be Visions of Albion and Jesse Terry.

For those that don’t know Visions of Albion:

A

“Visions of Albion are a folk duo consisting of Daniel Ryan on guitar/ vocals and Samantha Shields on vocals. Formed in Liverpool in 2017 and taking inspiration from the likes of Fleet Foxes, Simon & Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell -amongst many others- Visions of Albion’s sound could be described as personal, haunting and mysterious; shedding a new but darker light on Folk music.

Grounded in reality and refreshingly sober, Visions of Albion’s intricate use of harmony coupled with Daniel Ryan’s primal guitar style and Samantha Shields’ brutally honest but vulnerable voice creates an atmosphere of despair and desperation. In contrast with their forlornness, Visions of Albion can also be upbeat and optimistic; the music giving an air of positivity and reassurance that adversity can be overcome.

Still never straying far from the naked reality of life, Visions of Albion could be considered as giving a musical interpretation of both sides of the same coin; bluntly striking at the core of issues they tackle whilst also being able to pull us back up and dust us off. Simply put, Visions of Albion are a band for all seasons.”
