About The Events

Rachela Lanc and Iona Murray- Brown bring you the first Sunflower Sessions event, aiming to showcase talent from Liverpool and beyond. Come along for an intimate musical experience featuring Joy Mumford, Maria Olsen and Haiven.

Joy Mumford

Joy Mumford’s youthful and melodic musical style is a combination of her favourite musical influences; pop, indie and hints of 90’s RnB. Take a dash of the tight-knit soulful harmonies, a playful lyrical style, and a feel-good groove – and there you’ll find the self-taught singer, songwriter and producer.

Joy has supported a range of artists; such as Andreya Triana and Ayanna Witter-Johnson, and has written with the likes of Robert Milton (Holy Humberstone and Easy Life) and Christian Crada; who has written and produced for Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora, Salaam Remi, Jordan Sparks & Drake. Joy’s vocals are also featured on BBC Sound of 2020 nominee Easy Life’s 2019 single, ‘Temporary Love Pt 2’.

In 2020 Joy released her self-produced EP ‘Friends and Family’, whilst Spring 2022 saw the release of her single ‘For Myself’. 2023 will see the release of more music from Joy, alongside other exciting projects!

Maria Olsen

Influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon, Maria Olsen combines raw lyricism with soft, dreamy melodies, hoping to connect with her audience through her expressive storytelling. Growing up in Norway and her time spent studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts has allowed her to explore her sound in different contexts, enabling more appreciation and experimentation across different genres. She is currently working on developing an engaging live set as well as producing an EP that will be released later on this year.

HAIVEN

From Michigan, now Liverpool based, HAIVEN is a 19-year-old songwriter-turned- artist, informed by a multitude of influences: her inner classical violinist, folk singer and newfound sense of bubbling pop sensibility. HAIVEN’s bold melodies and relatable, colourful lyric palettes showcase her sonic transformation from folk- songwriter to playful indie-pop artist. With her debut single, ‘Everything Sucks’, released on February 10th and featured on BBC Introducing and Existential Magazine, HAIVEN is fresh on the pop horizon.
